AminoMax : Unique Rumen Bypass Protein

More Milk, Better Milk Quality, More Profit, Potential Environmental and Animal Health Benefits.

AminoMaxTM

AminoMax a new breakthrough in Protein Protection Technology from Carrs BillingtonAminoMax is the trade mark for a new type of rumen bypass protein produced by Carrs Billington Agriculture for the UK dairy, beef and sheep industry.

AminoMaxproducts are produced through a unique, completely natural and patented process, developed in the United States. AminoMax products are available from today to GB farmers and from November will be manufactured in Britain at Langwathby in Cumbria.

In carefully controlled conditions, but without the addition of chemicals, proteins are bonded with sugars to produce rumen bypass proteins. These bonded proteins are resistant to microbiological breakdown in the rumen but on entering the intestine have a high digestibility allowing amino acids and peptides to be efficiently absorbed into the bloodstream available for the production of milk and tissue protein. AminoMax products improve performance by boosting metabolisable amino acid supply.

AminoMax is manufactured in a different way from other protected proteins on the market. Our data shows that AminoMax S has a higher digestible undegradable protein content than other soya based products and there is nothing comparable to AminoMax R currently on the UK market.

Trial Work

  • Degradability work with beef steers has shown AminoMax S and R to have significantly higher by pass protein than untreated hipro soya or rapeseed meal.
  • Beef trials with AminoMax S have shown increases in liveweight gain compared to feeding the same quantity of soya meal.
  • Dairy trials using AminoMax S increased milk yield and improved feed to milk efficiency compared to unprocessed soya meal.
  • A dairy trial in the USA showed that when 1kg AminoMax S replaced 1kg of another processed soya meal product, milk yield increased by 0.8 kg / day

Whilst trial work has demonstrated direct performance benefits such as milk yield and growth rate improvements the AminoMax products can also can be used as part of a total dietary approach to cut environmental nitrogen pollution and help reduce the levels of ammonia and urea in the body / milk with potential benefits to health and fertility as well. E.g feeding AminoMax proteins could allow a reduction in the protein content of the diet to high yielding, fresh calved cows allowing the inclusion of more energy without sacrificing yield. Such cows are often in a negative energy balance and correcting this balance can significantly improve cow health and fertility.

Livestock farmers in many other countries around the world are fortunate to have access to other high bypass protein sources such as fish meal to more accurately feed their high yielding cows and fast growing beef cattle but most are banned in Europe and the UK leaving us at a disadvantage. AminoMax products are one tangible way to redress the balance and significantly improve dietary protein quality.

AminoMax Products

  • AminoMax S - Produced from hipro soya meal. Particurlarly high in metabolisable lysine - one of the first limiting amino acids in the diet of high yielding dairy cows.
  • AminoMax R – Produced from double zero rapeseed meal. Cost effective bypass protein source with a relatively high metabolisable methionine content - another first limiting amino acid.

Both are available as a straight in bulk or bags, in branded or tailor made blends or compounds from Carrs Billington Agriculture
